Buzzy Participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes Sunday 4th September 2011
On the 4th of September 2011 the
Buzzy UK team took part in the JDRF
sponsored walk to
cure Diabetes.
The 5 mile walk took place through
Oldbury Court
and Eastville Park in Bristol.
It was a great fundraising event which
raised around £8,000 in total and was
enjoyed by all.
We would like to thank everyone who

Charity Fire Walk in aid of 'Jump Up' supporting children suffering with arthritis

Events For 2012
On Thursday 3rd November 2011, Fran Skinner and freinds raised over 1000 Euros
in aid of the Nuffield Orhtopaedic Centre in Oxford, where they look after Frans
Grandson Rhys.
Frans great efforts in raising awareness for Juvenile Arthritis has enabled them to
raise enough money to purchase 10 Buzzies for use at the Hospital or to be given
to the children to take home.

On Thursday 1st December 2011, Buzzy4Shots UK attended the Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust 8th
Paediatric Pain Symposium.
This was a very exciting opportunity for us to promote Buzzy and learn more about pain management and complementary
therapies.
This was the first time that Buzzy has attended the GOSH Paediatric Pain Symposium and we were very pleased with the
amount of interest shown by all the health professionals that attended.
In the afternoon Buzzy was one of the items being discussed in the Procedural Pain - Practical solutions workshop given
by Becky Saul, Lecturer Practitioner from GOSH.
Many thanks to the GOSH Pain Team for inviting Buzzy along to what was a very enjoyable and informative event.
Events From 2011
In December 2012 Kevin Munro from Strathpeffer in Scotland, will be participating in the Indian Bike Challenge for Diabetes.
He will be raising money for Diabetes UK by cycling for 300 miles through Rajastan, Land of the Kings.
Kevins eldest daughter Chloe aged 12 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just over a year ago. This means a minimum of 4
Insulin injections per day and many blood glucose tests.
Kevin says "It has not been an easy year for my family, so i have decided to take on this challenge and raise as much
money as i can for Diabetes UK".

Was awarded the CE mark
On Saturday March 17th 2012, Buzzy attended the very first Diabetes Power Parents
Network Meeting Seminar in Wolverhampton. This was a very interesting seminar
attended by parents of type 1 diabetic children.
There was a very informative lecture given by Dr. Fiona Campbell of Leeds Children's
Hospital with regards to the national tariff for children with type 1 Diabetes. Also
speaking were NHS Diabetes, DWED, Diabetes UK, JDRF and Medtronic.
The event was organised by Angela Allison of Diabetes Power.

Buzzy was very pleased to be asked to attend the JDRF Discovery Day at the Worcester
Warriors stadium on Saturday 19th May 2012.
Speakers included Saran Shantikumar from the University of Bristol discussing how
interfering with microRNAs help improve blood flow in diabetes and Dr Kamran Rostami
(Coeliac UK) with a talk on Coeliac disease and diabetes.
There was also a talk by Chris Pennell, Captain of the Worcester Warriors, on how he is
Tackling type 1 whilst captaining Worcester Warriors. Many of the children asked him for his
autograph.

A big thank you to Caroline Morrison, Pain Sister at Derriford Hospital Plymouth for inviting
Buzzy to the 4th Peninsula Paediatric Pain Symposium.
It was the hottest day of the year so far but it was a great opportunity to introduce Buzzy to
Devon and Cornwall. There was a lot of interest from health proffessionals within the south
west.
Michelle, Mum to Kayleigh 5 years old who has Polyarticular Juvenille arthritis is fund raising
on Saturday 23rd June 2012 at the Crown Hill Family Centre Plymouth to help loal children
with Arthritis and other joint conditions.
SNAC (Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children) would like to establish how beneficial Buzzy is in reducing pain for

the 15th October 2012 at the Park Inn Hotel Nottingham.

Buzzy is delighted to be attending "The Friends Of O.S.C.A.R sharing information day" on Saturday 16th March 2013 at the
Belfry Hotel, Thame, Oxfordshire.
Speakers include:- Jay JayaMohan - Consultant Paediatric Neuro Surgeon (BBC2 Brain Doctors), Andrew Sheridan -
Paediatric Clinical Psychologist in Neuro Psycology and Laura Pemberton - Macmillan Late Effects Specialist Practitioner.
Friends of O.S.C.A.R is a national charity which supports families of a child diagnosed with a Brain or Spinal Tumor.
On Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of October 2013 Buzzy will be exhibiting at the Alverton Hotel in Truro, Cornwall.
Buzzy has been invited by Input Diabetes to attend their event to help promote the use of Insulin Pump Therapy. This
event is open to all people with Diabetes and their family members or carers who want to learn about the principles and
practical aspects of pump therapy.

Events For 2014
On Tuesday 22nd May 2014 we will be exhibiting at the Leeds Children's Hospital Appeal Showcasing event. We recently
supplied the Children's Rheumatology Department at Leeds General Infirmary with a large quantity of Buzzies which will
help children with Arthritis in the Leeds area.

Buzzy is delighted to be attending the NAHPS (National Association of Health Play Speciaists) conference in London on
the 26th June 2015 where we will be exhibiting.
Jenny Dyer Senior HPS and Rosa Claydon HPS from Great Ormond St. Hospital will be presenting a case study evaluating
the effectiveness of Buzzy to manage procedural anxiety for the child with learning and communication difficulties.
At the end of May 2015 Graham and Gillian will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds to purchase Buzzies to
donate to hospitals so they can use them for the kids and people whose children need home injections but can't afford to

Buzzy Helps Families Manage Arthritis Medications
The Scottish Network for Arthritis in Children (SNAC) supports families in many ways, including gifting Buzzies to
families to use with injections and blood tests.
SNAC surveyed families about whether Buzzy helps. The results are impressive: over 84% of respondents reported that
Buzzy helps with painful injections!
